South Fork, CA Wildfire Overview - 17 August 2017 c. 0430 UTC Weather Conditions - The vicinity of the fire was cloud free. Details - The interpreters were able to designate the fire perimeter and isolated fires with no difficulty. A very large area of growth with intense fire was detected along the northern and eastern perimeters of the South Fork fire. A large area of intense fire was detected along the western perimeter of the fire, and intense heat was observed along the areas of perimeter advance. All areas inside the fire perimeter that were not observed as intense were observed as scattered. Isolated heat was detected north of the fire perimeter. Additionally, a single isolated heat source was detected in Wawona two (2) miles west of the fire perimeter near 37° 32' 47"N 119° 38' 25"W. A cluster of eleven isolated heat sources were observed in a campground approximtely three and a half miles (3.5) southwest of the fire perimeter. These isolated heat sources and the Wawona heat source were included in the shapefiles and .kmz but were not included in the map products as the interpreters judges they were likely not related to the fire.
