South Fork and Empire, CA Wildfires Overview - 19 August 2017 c. 0730 UTC Weather Conditions - Patchy, broken cloud cover was present to the west of the fire area. While the South Fork fire was almost cloud-free, the Empire fire was completely cloud-covered. Details - Terrain effects had a severe effect upon analysis. Due to these effects confidence in the positional accuracy of the perimeter is low. The perimeter is indicated as estimated. South Fork fire Moderate to large areas of perimeter growth and intense fire were detected along the west-central edge of the fire. Additional smaller areas of growth were detected along the northern and southeastern portions of the perimeter. Areas of scattered fire were detected primarily along the northern and southeastern portions of the perimeter. Isolated fires were generally within fairly close proximity to the main perimeters. Empire Fire Heavy cloud cover was present over the entire fire. The fire perimeter is indicated as estimated. A small, possibly separate perimeter was detected immediately adjacent to the southeastern corner of the perimeter. Isolated fires were generally within fairly close proximity to the main perimeters. An isolated fire was detected approximately 8 miles east-southeast of the South Fork Fire. An isolated fire was detected approximately 4.4 miles north of the northern end of the Empire Fire. A small separate perimeter was detected approximately 8.3 miles north-northeast of the northern end of the Empire Fire.
