Lockwood Valley Rd from Lockwood Creek Rd to Hwy 33 opened to residents only. The use of minimum impact suppression tactics (MIST) in wilderness and threatened/endangered species habitat. Protection of heritage resources. Prevention of the spread of the New Zealand mud snail north of Pyramid Dam and into Piru Lake.

East/West Mop up continues in Lockwood Valley area and Piru. Lockwood Valley Road open to residents only. Significant demob in process. Continue rehab of contingency line and lines within the burn. Scattered rain showers in the area (totals vary from 0.07 to 0.12 inch). An estimated additional 6 miles of line construction was completed today in Branch VI.

East/West: Continue determining rehab needs and continue implementing the rehab plan. Patrol/mop-up direct line from Lockwood flat east to Gold Hill and west to dozer line. Patrol/mop-up direct line east to west Piru Creek at Gold Hill Road. Mop in on divisions W,X,Y,Z. Back haul equipment and supplies out of the fire area.

The Day Incident is under Area Command (Waterbury) with Type I Team (Custer) managing the East Zone and CIIMT-5 (Dietrich) managing the West Zone. A tentative transition with CIIMT-1 (Feser) to replace CIIMT-5 (Dietrich) on 10/03/2006 at 1800. The Day Incident Summary 209 will reflect both the East and West Zone. Helicopter accident occured at Rose Valley Retardant Helibase. Pilots sustained minor injuries and were transported to Ojai Valley Hospital for further observation.
