README.TXT for Truckbase SPS V3.2 Release April 2, 2003 ---------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO INSTALL -------------- Uninstall any previous versions of the Truckbase(r) SPS program by running the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel. Because all files that were created in the Truckbase(r) SPS program directories do not get removed during the uninstall feature, it is strongly suggested that the "C:\Program Files\Truckbase\SPS" directory and all files and subfolders within the directory are deleted before proceeding with any new install of the program. Errors may result if this directory is not deleted because data may be in the wrong format for the new program. Once all previous versions of the program and its directories have been removed, install this new version of the program by double-clicking on the "Setup.exe" icon on the CD. The setup program will lead you step by step through the procedure. After the setup is completed, re-start your computer. NEW FEATURES FROM VERSION 3.1 ----------------------------------- 1. Productivity Reports: Treated Area Analysis, Time Class Analysis, and Speed Graph reports have been added to aid in assessing the productivity of the work performed. 2. Project settings changes can be applied immediately without having to close and re-open the project. 3. GPS Point animation - re-create the path the machine has taken. 4. Ability to merge separate treated areas together into one treated area using the fill tool. 5. The shapefile created by the export of a GPS Paths layer can now be successfully edited in ArcView. 6. A "contractor name" field has been added for display on the reports. Enter a contractor name, if desired, in the default or project settings to utilize it. 7. Replaced the old print preview window with a new preview -- a number of print-preview related problems should be solved. 8. The order of the columns in the GPS Data window are now saved. If their order is changed, the columns will appear in the same order when the program is re-started. 9. Several memory leaks repaired. 10. Operating Area Report and Treated Area Report - now able to specify a projection for maps. You may set a default projection for your maps in your default settings (File>> Default Settings) and/or project settings (Project>>Settings) under the "Report Settings" sheet. 11. Compatibility for NTFS-formatted drives. 12. "Selective Buffering" option: when using the buffer tool to create a treated area, SPS can be set up not to buffer the machinery's GPS path if it is travelling above a specfied speed threshold for longer than a specified period of time. 13. Ability to view an attribute field from a map layer as a label on the map (right-click on the layer's entry in the map layer window and select "Change Label Field" to choose the attribute field to display). ---------------------------------------- Thanks for using Truckbase(r) SPS V3.2! Please give us your feedback so that we can improve the program to better fit your needs. - The Truckbase(r) SPS Team ----------------------------------------
